Check out the new 'do, y'all!
There is just nothing like a good makeover to inspire all sorts of confidence in fresh starts.
A few months ago, I envisioned creating a whole new look for this blog from scratch. I delighted in using colored pencils and thick-lined, inky pens to sketch and create on paper the beautiful castle for my cloud. I muddled through the vector graphics program, taking my logo art from the page to the screen and creating some cutesy, colorific social media buttons. Then I started the actual coding attempt, which from here on out will be known as "wandering through the valley of the shadow of slow, techy death." Oh my good golly, the pain and agony involved. After considering the fact that my questionable coding skills weren't going to be up to the challenge, at least if I wanted to finish in this century, I enlisted the help of my resident code monkey extraordinaire. My sweet husband is such a whiz with all things computer, but unfortunately my nearly non-existent coding skills were rivaled only by his nearly non-existent spare time. In the end, I realized that the suffering I was putting us both through to reinvent the world's most frustrating wheel, was just not worth it. I really wanted the fresh start here to coincide with the big makeover to our family life as we begin the first year of homeschooling, so today I grabbed a very basic Weebly theme and my vector art, then modified to my heart's content. My Hubs spent the day giving me a HUGE assist on the bells and whistles that I couldn't quite tweak to my liking.Voila!A fresh face on the site achieved without the need for money, psychiatric assistance, or marital counseling. Thank the Lord (and my infinitely patient husband). I still have work to do to flesh out some additional features that I have planned, but overall, I'm so pleased with how it turned out! I hope that y'all (all two of you-- Hi, Mom!) enjoy the new look as much as I do!
